In his words
Founder quote
“As a young screenwriter in film school using final draft, I used to jump in head first just knowing my desire to write would result in a great story. But experience has taught me it’s best to know what your story is about before you start writing. At the time I was stuck with a college assignment to complete a screenplay, and the clock was ticking. I found that put pressure on me and the words didn’t flow. It took three different software purchases totaling $700, and the help of a co-writer to bounce Ideas off, before I could actually start writing knowing what my story was completely about.”
“But now - I don’t have to do that pressure. What works for me is to create a balance story that has guidelines, then I can imported into a script writing program, knowing who my characters are, and the relationships to each each other, and the words just flowed.”
“Have you ever needed help writing and wanted to show people what it was about, but couldn’t? StoryCrafter finally ends all that.”

UFP Enterprises Launches STORYCRAFTER, Screenwriting Software That Develops the Story Before the Script
NEW YORK — January 1, 2027 — UFP Enterprises today launched STORYCRAFTER, a screenwriting workspace that helps writers develop their story — premise, structure, characters, and scenes — before they fight the document, then write the script and export it to the tools the industry already uses.
Most screenwriting software starts at the blank page. STORYCRAFTER starts earlier: an AI story review reads a writer's premise and storyboard and identifies plot gaps, then suggests focused development questions — questions, not rewrites. The writer's words stay the writer's own.
From there, writers build their project in a connected workspace: acts, scenes, and character profiles that stay linked as the story changes; a real script editor with screenplay formatting; and one-click export to Fountain and Final Draft (.fdx), so work moves freely into Final Draft, WriterDuet, and Fade In.
“Have you ever needed help writing and wanted to show people what it was about, but couldn’t? StoryCrafter finally ends all that,” said Wayne Hobdy, founder of UFP Enterprises. Read the full quote.

Boilerplate (50 words)
STORYCRAFTER is screenwriting software from UFP Enterprises that develops the story before the script: an AI story review finds plot gaps and asks development questions, while a connected workspace links premise, characters, and scenes — then exports to Fountain and Final Draft. Launches January 1, 2027 at getstorycrafter.com.
Story angles
- Questions, not rewrites — an AI tool for writers skeptical of AI; the review never writes the story.
- The pre-formatting gap — why the hardest part of screenwriting happens before the blank page.
- Students and access — a verified 35% student discount for film-school writers.
- Plays well with others — exports to Final Draft, WriterDuet, and Fade In instead of replacing them.
